I was surprised that after three months of frankly, sometimes difficult travel with the tre doni, that I could have kept going. The trip was too short and there were so many more places I wanted to see. I wasn’t homesick or pining for my comfy bed. If the kids didn’t have their first day of school four days after we were scheduled to be home, I would have changed our plans and stayed on the road. The one thing that made the transition to living back in Boulder easier was knowing that I’d be traveling to Mexico in a few months.
Fast forward to Christmas break and the tre doni are hanging out with their English grandparents, splashing in the pool and swimming with turtles. Mom and Dad are relaxing poolside with drinks and eating to excess. In all, quite a lovely way to spend Christmas.
